Welcome to the Getaway 4WD Club

We are a small friendly club (typically 18 - 24 vehicles, double that number of members) that enjoys getting out in the West Australian bush.

The Club meets at 7.30 pm on the 4th Wednesday of each month (excepting December months - no meetings) at the Bassendean Bowling Club, 10 Whitfield St, Bassendean. (just off Guildford Rd).

Visitors are welcome.

Our aims are to encourage the skilful and responsible use of four wheel drive vehicles in all situations. However, we're not about hard core 4WDriving. It's much more about being together around a campfire, checking out interesting bush history and seeing WA's stunning landscape with a group of like-minded people.

As we are a small Club, trips are volunteered on a monthly basis throughout any year.  The Club aims to run one trip or event per month.

The Club enjoys another beaut campfire

There are plenty of experienced members who can offer advice to new members who are interested in learning more about the correct four-wheel driving techniques for their vehicles and the conditions they encounter, and the safe operation of recovery gear.

Our trips rate from scenic and easy through to hard and difficult. They range from the 'near metro', to the extremely remote regions of the State;  and occasionaly 'across the border'...

However, on many of the trips, particularly along station tracks, our vehicles don't even go into 4WD.

The day trips, weekenders and extended trips away are more an opportunity to soak up the history of an area and to check out the wildflowers and the amazing landscape and stunning scenery of the outback. Check out the Calendar!

Most of all, it's about the fantastic camaraderie of travelling in the safety of a convoy with those who love the outdoors, and after the day, enjoying the campfire companionship.

The Club follows normal convoy procedures, where you are responsible for the vehicle behind you in the convoy when making turns to ensure that no one gets lost.
